POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
The Sustainable Energy Transitions (SET) Group at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to work in the SET Group Led by Prof. Dharik Mallapragada, in the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department.

The SET Group combines process-level analysis with systems modeling and optimization to evaluate emerging low-carbon technologies and their integration into the broader energy economy across diverse policy and market contexts. The group focuses on advancing the spatial, temporal, and technological resolution of energy system models, with particular emphasis on petrochemical sector representation for decarbonization analysis.
Responsibilities
- design and execute research tasks in alignment with project objectives.
- lead and contribute to collaborative efforts with partner researchers and institutions.
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and reports for funding agencies.
- Present findings at group meetings, conferences, and internal and external events
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students engaged in related research.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $70,000 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in energy systems, process systems engineering, or a closely related area as exemplified by a strong publication record. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative research approach with excellent written and oral communication abilities.
Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field with a focus on systems modeling and optimization (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines) or a related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
