POSITION OVERVIEW

The Department of Cell Biology seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Scott-Hewitt Laboratory, focusing on neurobiology and cell biology research.

Minimum Requirements:

• PhD in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in experimental design and quantitative data analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in teams
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety and best practices
• Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and software

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data related to your research project
• Maintain proper records of experiments in compliance with lab and Duke University guidelines
• Present data in lab meetings and departmental seminars in an organized manner
• Demonstrate commitment to training, career advancement, and intellectual leadership
• Contribute intellectually to other scientific projects in the lab
• Support the training and advancement of graduate students and lab personnel
• Write fellowship applications as appropriate for career development

APPOINTMENT DETAILS

• Minimum one-year appointment, contingent on satisfactory annual reviews
• Salary commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience
• Work performed onsite at Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, NC
