Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at The University of Alabama is seeking a candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in rare earth metals processing.
The College and/or the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity and funding.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or other terminal degree in chemistry or a related field. Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment.

Skills and Knowledge
Experience with synthesis of complex inorganic and materials, structural characterization, and quantitative thermodynamic and thermophysical analysis and process-driven structure–property relationships, metallurgy, or chemistry.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong analytical skills are beneficial, including but not limited to XRD, IR, SEM-EDS, TGA, DTA, and electrochemical techniques. Experience with data visualization and analysis software.
