This position is part of the National Institute of Standards (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. ... Research Title: Quantum information processing with mixed species trapped ions
The work will entail: The candidate will work in a team on implementing basic building blocks of scalable quantum information processing with mixed species trapped ions.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Work with a team made up of NIST permanent staff members, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students to upgrade existing apparatus, plan and build new parts of the apparatus, implement and evaluate experiments, disseminate results of experiments through publication in journals and presentations.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen Preferred
- PhD degree in physics or equivalent degree from a foreign university.
- Experience in experimental design and execution of experimental work in an atomic physics laboratory.
- Good understanding of laser technology and nonlinear frequency conversion.
