Postdoctoral Fellow- MCG-Neurosci & Reg Medicine

Job Summary

A position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific, technical, and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols, develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures, and contribute to publication in scientific journals. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, genetic, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, and statistical/computational procedures.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in project planning and development of research projects. Develop and refine protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Perform a variety of experimental studies including cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and pharmacology experiments. Experiments may include but not be limited to animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, collection of tissues, and multiomic profiling. Analyze results of experiments and procedures and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis. Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results.
  • Write manuscripts and develop research proposals in line with the laboratory's research directions.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or M.D. from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
