Job Summary

A training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work... Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, confocal microscopic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection of mice procedures.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques. Participate in molecular biology, physiology, bacteriological, cell culture, animal surgical and dissection procedures. Project will relate to ongoing work identifying mechanism controlling macrophage polarization and retinal angiogenesis.
• Participate in project planning and development of research protocols...
• Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature... Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and internationally.
• Compose articles for publication in scientific journals; Review articles prepared by others.
• Advise principal investigators, other postdocs, students and other research personnel on research techniques...
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and operate microscopes... Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong research background in inflammation, flow cytometry or fluorescence imaging or protein-protein interaction or molecular biology or /signaling pathways using multiple experimental techniques including cell culture, RNA analysis, chromatin immunoprecipitation, performing mouse breeding, genotyping, and routine experiments such as cloning, western blot, immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemistry analyses.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to complete work and meet deadlines. Willingness and ability to work with research animals. Ability to work independently with only general supervision.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
This position is funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
