Postdoctoral Fellow- MCG-Vascular Biology Center
Job Summary
The project will use mouse arteriovenous fistula and vein graft mouse models to study the vein remodeling involving epigenetic and transcriptome definition. The project requires very skilled surgical vein remodeling surgery, single cell and nuclei isolation, and tissue preparation for molecular and pathological characterization. Responsibilities include planning and performing experiments in a properly controlled and ethical manner, analyzing data, and interpreting data for presentation and publication. Candidate will have both independent and collaborative projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform animal surgery, isolate tissue and cells for both molecular and pathological experiments, analyze and summarize data in a timely manner, and present related literature.
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
- Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature, summarize and evaluate findings, develop derivative applications of applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Compose articles for publication in scientific journals. Review articles prepared by others.
- Advise principal investigators, other Postdocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and operate microscopes, computer-linked analytical equipment, dedicated computers, and other complex scientific equipment. Instruct others in operation of equipment.
Required Qualifications
MD, Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong research background in mouse vascular physiology/pathology or molecular biology or metabolic reprogramming using multiple experimental techniques including mouse surgery, primary cell culture, RNA analysis, performing mouse breeding, and routine experiments such as cloning, western blot, immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemistry analyses.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
This position is (fully/partially) funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
