Salary package: $87,135 - $134,507 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full time, Fixed term (up to 17 months)
Position Overview
The Australian National University is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Fellow in User Experience Design (0.5 FTE) and/or Web Development (0.5 FTE). The position can be offered as one full-time role or two part-time appointments for a fixed term of 17 months, commencing around November 2025.
The Fellow(s) will play a key role in the design, development, evaluation, and implementation of an innovative online interactive training course that supports the Volunteer Dementia and Delirium Care Program. This MRFF-funded project responds to urgent calls from consumers, volunteers, hospitals, and government partners to improve person-centred hospital care for people living with dementia and/or delirium.
The role will be based in the School of Medicine and Psychology, with strong links to the School of Computing within the Data Science and Analytics cluster. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to collaborative research, educational activities, and stakeholder engagement, while actively participating in the broader intellectual and cultural life of the Schools, Colleges, and University.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated researcher who brings both technical expertise and collaborative spirit to this project. The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong skills in data science, user experience design, and/or web development, with the ability to apply human-centred computing/engineering methods to digital health.
- Experience in conducting and publishing high-quality research, ideally in applied or interdisciplinary contexts.
- The capability and willingness to supervise student research projects, with responsibilities to be agreed upon with supervisors.
- An interest in building and maintaining industry partnerships and contributing to a wider research community, embedding innovative approaches in engineering, computing, and health.

The School
This transdisciplinary project is combining the strengths of the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology and ANU School of Computing in health data sciences. The School of Medicine and Psychology provides professional education in psychology and medicine, and undergraduate education in psychology and health sciences, and conducts transdisciplinary research in health care practice and policy. The School of Computing has a strong foundation in computing and information sciences at ANU. Its mission is motivated by the need to design, drive and sustain strategic activities via four broad focus areas: Computing Foundations, Computational Science, Intelligent Systems, and Data Science and Analytics.
The College
The ANU College of Science and Medicine encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.
