Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Critical Zone Science
The Global Critical Zone Science Chair at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. The successful applicant will conduct research in C and N Geochemistry to quantify soil C and N stocks and isotopic composition in livestock areas in Brazilian soils (Cerrado). This research aims to enhance understanding of soil C sequestration in pasture systems, supporting climate change mitigation under the UN-Paris Agreement. Duties include developing a research program, sampling areas across the Brazilian Cerrado using a chronosequence approach, analyzing soil C and N content with elemental analyzers and mass spectrometers, and assessing contributions to Brazil's iNDC commitments.
Qualifications required: PhD in environmental science, soil science, surface geochemistry, or related fields from a recognized Moroccan or African university; a strong publication record in international journals; knowledge in environmental science, including soil fieldwork and isotopic geochemistry techniques; excellent English communication skills; and proficiency in field and lab work. The candidate must be proactive, ethical, and respectful.
