Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Bioreactor Modelling

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Environmental and Biological Systems Engineering research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by BBSRC and is fixed-term for 12 months, expected to start on the 1st of April, 2026.

You will be joining a team to carry out both experimental and mathematical modelling research in an extended project to continue developing a novel bioreactor for sustainable cultured meat production. You will be responsible for extending the existing mathematical modelling work to inform experimental exploration and scale-up analysis.

You should possess a PhD in (bio-)chemical engineering, bioengineering or another related field, with extensive experience in the mathematical modelling of biological processes that covers at least some of the following aspects: biochemical kinetics, metabolic networks, mammalian cells, and mass transfer.
