About the opportunity

The Institute for Musculoskeletal Health is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their current research team. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging research-focused academic to apply and further develop their expertise while contributing to the School’s research agenda.

In this role, you will undertake high-quality research as part of collaborative research teams, contributing to innovative and impactful scholarship within the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health. Working under broad supervision, you will exercise sound judgement in selecting appropriate research methods, planning and prioritising your work to deliver against agreed goals.

As a developing subject matter expert, you will provide advice within your area of expertise and contribute to resolving routine research matters, while collaborating with colleagues to address more complex challenges. You will play an active role in strengthening research capability within the School, supporting students informally, engaging with academic and industry partners, and contributing to a collegial and high-performing research environment.

This position offers the opportunity to build your research profile within a leading research-intensive university, while contributing to meaningful work that advances knowledge and improves population health outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Have experience in, and ability to project manage a research clinical trial in primary care.
  • Conduct high-quality research and scholarly activity as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the advancement of knowledge within the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health.
  • Develop and refine research capabilities under the guidance of senior academic staff, progressively building research profile and expertise.
  • Provide informal mentoring and academic support to students within the discipline, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Contribute to administrative activities and actively participate in School and Faculty meetings and initiatives.
  • Support and promote a positive workplace culture that values diversity of thought, collaboration, excellence and the achievement of outcomes.
  • Contribute to advancing the strategic priorities of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health and the broader University through engagement in relevant projects and initiatives.

About you

  • Completed PhD in a relevant field in health.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical trials, conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity, with a developing research profile in your discipline or area of expertise.
  • Strong understanding of the relevant subject matter within the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to advancing knowledge in the field.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Proven planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • A developing network of academic, industry and professional partners, supported by strong computer literacy and a commitment to responsive, professional service.
