Postdoctoral Research Associate (Computational Medicine and Imaging) - Radiology
Position Summary
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Radiology, WashU Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, in the laboratory of Dr. Kooresh Shoghi.
The successful candidate will be a member of a highly interdisciplinary team including oncologists, biologists, engineers, and imaging scientists. The candidate will develop computational models of human disease at the interface with quantitative imaging (preclinical and clinical), genomics, and pathology to predict response to therapy and to develop clinical decisions support strategies.
The ideal candidate should have a doctoral degree in applied mathematics, physics, computer science, biomedical engineering, mathematical biology, computational systems biology, or related field. Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following fields is required: mathematical or computational biology, mathematical/statistical modeling, optimization, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) modeling, pharmacology, or related fields ideally in the context of a biological research project at genomic/metabolic, cellular, organ, or systems levels.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills (oral and written), be detailed oriented, creative, and able to synthesize biological information/insights in terms of computational/mathematical concepts. Evidence of research activity resulting in publications and presentations is highly desirable.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
- Performs literature review and synthesize complex biological information into computational frameworks.
- Develops computational frameworks to simulate and integrate multi-modal data.
- Quantifies biomedical imaging data.
- Assists in the design of computational research.
- Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
- Prepares and submits papers on research for publication.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
- Attends national and international meetings to present research findings.
- Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
- Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
- Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in university laboratories remain the property of the University.
Salary Range:
Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Education: Ph.D., M.D. Or Equivalent Terminal Or Doctoral Degree.
