About the Role

Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Dr Diu Nguyen’s group (https://www.diunguyenlab.org/). We study the biological mechanisms underpinning leukaemia development and progression with a strong focus on the role of post-transcriptional/translational regulation *(To Blood (Suppl) 2025, Xie Blood (Suppl) 2024 &Nguyen, Nat Commun 2020).* The successful applicant will investigate how translational regulation of gene expression in niche cells and their crosstalks with leukaemia cells affect leukaemia development, with the aim of identifying actionable targets.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher holding or near completion of a PhD in a relevant biological or life sciences subject. The ability to develop independent insights into the project, solve complex problems and willingness to work flexibly within a team to achieve the project demands are needed. Experience with omics data analyses and functional transcriptomic studies are essential; skills in flow cytometry and animal work are highly desirable.

The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. It is one of six institutes within The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics. BCI is committed in supporting and developing future cancer researchers through its extensive postgraduate training

The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of per annum £39,022 to £46,618 (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
