Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow in Computational Screening of Defects for Quantum Technologies
This is a theoretical/computational postdoctoral position for the prediction and development of point defects in two-dimensional materials for applications in quantum technologies.
Project activities include the development of computational frameworks for calculating defect properties, and analysis of materials-defect systems towards identifying candidates for quantum technologies. This will include density functional theory (DFT) and higher level methods to accurately screen new systems based on their optoelectronic and vibrational properties. The role holder will develop and apply these methods to screen defects in two-dimensional materials for quantum technologies.
The post is offered on a fixed-term basis for 2 years. The position can begin between August and September 2025. If the start date is delayed, the post must end on 30 September 2027. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
Candidates should hold a PhD (or close to completion) in materials science, chemistry, physics or similar. Please include a CV and cover letter in your application detailing your fit to the criteria in the role profile.
All applications must be submitted on-line through: http://jobs.nottingham.ac.uk/SCI194725. Informal enquiries only may be addressed to katherine.inzani1@nottingham.ac.uk. Please quote ref. SCI194725.
