Postdoctoral Research Associate / Fellow in Diabetes
The Role
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow to participate to join Professor Angus Jones’ research team and undertake research to improve the identification of different types of diabetes. The successful applicant will join the internationally recognised Exeter Clinical Diabetes research team and work closely with the Exeter Test Group and NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre.
The successful applicant will use data from a unique large prospective study of adults developing diabetes, alongside other sources, to investigate the most cost-effective approaches to diagnosing what type of diabetes a person has when they first present, aiming to directly inform guidelines for clinical practice. The post will build on existing work relating to the classification of diabetes subtypes and the development of statistical models. The successful applicant will work with a supportive multidisciplinary team that has impacted diabetes care worldwide and has an outstanding track record of supporting early career scientists.
About You
Postdoctoral Research Associate:
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. Applicants will have an understanding of statistical concepts and regression modelling and the ability to write analytic code in at least one commonly used statistical programming language (e.g. R/Stata). Excellent analytical skills and an interest in health research are also essential requirements.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. Applicants will have an understanding of statistical concepts and regression modelling and the ability to write analytic code in at least one commonly used statistical programming language (e.g. R/Stata). Excellent analytical skills, an interest in health research & evidence of published research are also essential requirements.
