About us

The UCL Progression Of Neurodegenerative Disease (POND) group is a world-leading research laboratory in computational data-driven disease progression modelling and AI, that sits within the UCL Hawkes Institute — a leading hub of medical image computing and interventional science involving well over 100 scientists and academics

About the role

The Fellow will join the UCL POND group (15–20 researchers), collaborating directly with researchers from UCL Hawkes and beyond. Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Extend and develop machine learning tools for individualised prediction and stratification in Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials and healthcare applications such as memory clinics.
  • Write papers, attend conferences, etc.

This is a fixed-term role until 31st December 2027 in the first instance

Appointment might be made as a Senior Research Fellow, Grade 8, this will be determined by the additional essential criteria in the job description

About you

You must have experience and demonstrable aptitude in a related field: honours/masters degree (minimum 2:1) and a PhD in a relevant discipline: machine learning, medical image computing, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, computational neuroscience. Key skills: proficiency and experience in coding relevant to computational statistics and machine learning (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB), including in high performance computing environments; experience with large scale biomedical/health datasets and a suitable track record in machine learning applied to medical data analysis. It is also essential to have excellent communication skills and a commitment to conducting high-quality research that will benefit medicine and healthcare
