Senior Lecturer in Education - Early Years Specialist
The Role
In this role, you will join our team of committed academics who enable students to transform lives through their practice. You will be a key member of the Early Years teaching team in the Department of Education and work across our popular Early Years courses; this will include leading modules and other initiatives within the Department portfolio. You will support a diverse range of students and teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Early Years (birth to eight years) and teacher education. This will include teaching one evening a week and several Saturdays across the academic year (with commensurate late starts/time off in lieu).
An enhanced with barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance is required for this role.
The Person
You are an inspirational advocate for Early Years (birth to eight) education, who is passionate about Early Years (birth to eight) education. You bring in-depth knowledge and understanding of key issues within the Early Years sector, alongside a proven track record as an educator, teacher and/or practitioner in this field. You demonstrate alignment with the University’s values of being innovative, ambitious, inclusive and enterprising, and are motivated to play a key role in advancing our provision. You have experience of working within the Early Years sector, with a strong understanding of the diversity of provision, special education needs and the demands of work-based learning. You are creative, flexible and proactive, with a genuine enthusiasm for responding to emerging developments in Early Years education and beyond.
You hold a relevant degree, and while Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and/or EYITT is desirable, they are not essential. A Master’s degree is desirable; however, candidates who do not yet hold an MA will be expected to work towards achieving one.
Further Information
This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £50,160 per annum.
