This is an exciting opportunity to join the Tick Cell Biobank team at the University of Liverpool, which manages this unique international repository of arthropod cell lines. You will be responsible for cell line characterisation, including imaging, genome sequencing, proteomic analysis, and co-ordination of bioinformatics. In addition, you will be required to participate in supervising trainees in arthropod cell line culture and sequencing, both remotely and in-person.

You should hold a first degree in a relevant branch of bioscience; and a PhD in arthropod biology, arthropod-borne disease, arthropod genetics or equivalent, or in an allied subject with postdoctoral experience in arthropod biology supported by a publication record. Essential experience is required in cell culture, molecular biology of arthropods, handling of large datasets, and international collaborations.

This full-time post is available for up to 12 months.

The preferred start date is 1 May 2026.

If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
