Full-time, fixed term opportunity for 12 months
Exciting opportunity to be a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cancer and Stem Cell Research
Base Salary starting at $113,400 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Cancer and Stem Cell Laboratory is dedicated to understanding how normal stem cells transform into cancer stem cells and to developing targeted therapies that eliminate these treatment-resistant cells. Cancer stem cells are increasingly recognised as key drivers of tumour growth, relapse, and resistance to conventional therapies.
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic team and contribute to pioneering research in cancer and stem cell biology. In this role, you will design and conduct experiments aimed at developing next-generation cancer therapies, including gene- and cell-based immunotherapies. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies such as single-cell multiomics, stem cell models, and nanotechnology, within a collaborative and innovative research environment. It is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of translational cancer research.
Key Responsibilities:
- design, conduct, and analyze experiments independently and collaboratively
- produce high-quality research outputs and contribute to high-impact publications
- present research findings at internal meetings, national and international conferences
- supervise and mentor junior researchers and students on a day-to-day basis
- assist in planning and coordinating research activities within the lab
- ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OGTR, ethics)
- apply and manage human and animal ethics approvals/modifications, and GMO approvals.
About you
You will have:
- PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as cancer biology, immunology, or stem cell research
- prior experience in cancer and/or immunology research is highly desirable
- proficiency in techniques such as cell-based assays, animal models of disease and data analysis
- strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments
- proven track record of generating high-quality, reproducible research data
- experience with developing and applying new techniques and technologies
- strong commitment to ethical research practices, including work with animals and GMOs
- familiarity with OGTR and other regulatory requirements
- strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
- professional, collaborative, and respectful approach to working with others.
