Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemical Biology and Bioengineering

Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and Rodney Porter Building, Sibthorp Road, off South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QU

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemical Biology and Bioengineering to work under the supervision of Professor Yimon Aye for a period of up to 12 months.

The project involves developing and applying a novel integrated platform to study the chemical molecular mechanisms and signalling consequences of reactive small-molecule metabolites within important biological contexts including host-pathogen interactions and tumor-immune microenvironment.

The project further leverages state-of-the-art chemical biology tools in unison with advanced genetic and biochemical concepts and models, include zebrafish and mice. The project is funded by European Research Council Advanced (ERC-AdG) Grant.

About you

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Bioengineering, or a related area (or be close to completion), prior to taking up the appointment.

The research requires experience and supple mindset in interdisciplinary research. Expected background skillsets include, for instance, small-molecule chemistry, biochemistry, cell-based, and model organism studies.

You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and Rodney Porter Building, Sibthorp Road, off South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1
