D-26-ODI-00005 | Research | Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute

The Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute at Princeton University invites applications for the ODBI2 (Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute Innovators) Fellows Program.

ODBI2 Fellows will work with two or more Princeton faculty to establish an interdisciplinary research plan for bioengineering projects to be performed as part of the growing ODBI community. Fellows who ignite new collaborations between faculty in ODBI and across the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and the broader University community are strongly encouraged. We particularly welcome applicants who will pursue projects to develop novel technologies, and utilize new tools for addressing fundamental questions about living systems, and/or harnessing these systems for applications.

Why you should apply:

  • Offers a true "Pathway to Independence": Fellows gain experience in guiding their own new research directions, including managing a research budget of up to $25,000 per year.
  • Dual faculty mentors and interdisciplinary research program: Receive the benefits of traditional postdoctoral training, but with the opportunity for dual mentorship across different labs and disciplines.
  • Leadership and community: Fellows will help advance new programming, host speakers, and form new connections in our community.

Appointments are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding. Fellows will hold the rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate and be provided a $70,000 initial salary with generous yearly increases, standard University benefits, annual research allowance, and conference travel allowance.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible candidates must have received their Ph.D. in a related field (e.g. Bioengineering and other Engineering fields, Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and have no more than two years post PhD experience prior to the anticipated start date.

Application Requirements:

  • Cover letter (one page)
  • Name potential ODBI faculty mentors (min 2 max 4) and why they are of interest as potential mentors
  • CV

  • 3 reference letters
  • A 5 minute(max) video submission:
    • Show a few slides on main research accomplishments in your PhD work
    • Research interests, especially future research
