Postdoctoral Research Associate, Paleoclimatology
The Institute at Brown for Environment and Society (IBES) seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate in paleoclimatology focusing on funded research projects to produce and interpret climate records from Southeast Asia. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct clean lab and stable isotope laboratory work, mentor undergraduates working on the project, coordinate with collaborating institutions, and write up results for peer-reviewed publications. Fieldwork associated with the projects is possible, and discretionary research funds of up to $2,000 will be provided. Postdoctoral Research Associates receive a salary of $68,000; a $3,000 salary supplement will be provided to offset relocation expenses. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be appointed for 12 months with the possibility of renewal pending performance and funding.
For this position, Brown offers only the J-1 visa classifications to scholars who need immigration sponsorship in order to enter the U.S. and commence lawful employment under the terms of their appointment.
Qualifications for the position include a PhD at the time the position commences, an ability to work independently, an interest in contributing to a dialogue across disciplinary boundaries, and an interest in exploring diverse avenues for research activities and impacts beyond academia.
