About This Opportunity
This role offers a high-impact opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to consolidate and extend their disciplinary expertise while building an independent research profile. The successful candidate will lead and undertake translational research focused on improving treatment pathways, rehabilitation practices, and health outcomes for individuals injured in motor vehicle crashes.
Positioned within the technology-enabled rehabilitation research stream led by Professor Trevor Russell, the role requires demonstrated capability in applying digital and technology-based approaches to healthcare and rehabilitation. Consistent with this level, the position also contributes to service and engagement activities that support the research mission of the University.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Research: Produce high-quality research outputs appropriate to career stage, including publication in reputable outlets. Contribute to competitive research funding applications, collaborate on joint research projects, and apply best-practice methodologies. Develop an emerging research profile and support the translation of research outcomes to end users, including knowledge transfer and technology adoption.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students as appropriate, providing effective feedback and support. Assist with the supervision of research staff where required, contributing to a positive research culture in line with University policies and procedures.
- Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate citizenship behaviours aligned with UQ values through collaboration, participation, and leadership of self. Contribute to internal service and administrative activities, support unit operations as required, and begin developing external relationships with industry, government, and professional stakeholders.

About You
- Completion or near completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. allied health, health services research, health technology or related field).
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality research focused on the use of technology in health service delivery, rehabilitation, and health outcomes, including developing and completing research projects and producing publishable outputs.
- An emerging track record of research publications in national and/or international peer-reviewed journals, with the ability to contribute to research leadership, training, and supervision as appropriate to level.
- Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills, including experience with relevant statistical or analytical software (e.g. SPSS, R, SAS, STATA), and the effective use of standard computing and administrative tools.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently with initiative and judgement, and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal record check, and mandatory immunisations.
