Postdoctoral Research Fellow (BRRTP Grant)

The Brown Respiratory Research Training Program (BRRTP) is a T32 grant with Corey Ventetuolo, MD, MS, FAHA (contact), Elizabeth O. Harrington, PhD, Sharon Rounds, MD, and Yang Zhou, PhD, as multi-Principal Investigators. The BRRTP has as its overall objective the training of physicians and scientists who will become independent investigators in the pathobiology of respiratory diseases, translational approaches and patient-centered research to improve outcomes of these diseases. This will be accomplished by a rigorous program of didactic and career development training and mentored research experience in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting. The BRRTP aims to bridge gaps between biomedical, behavioral and public health disciplines to advance knowledge regarding how best to reduce disease burden among patients with diseases that affect the respiratory system. Support available for up to two years. Initial appointment will be for one year, pending review for second year of support.

In addition, new postdoctoral trainees with an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree will be supported for up to 2 years of research training focused on either Pathogenesis of Respiratory Diseases and/or patient-centered research in the prevention or reduction of morbidity and mortality for chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, with a specific focus in women’s respiratory and integrated behavioral health. Initial appointment will be for one year, pending review for second year of support.

Qualifications: MD or PhD with a track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and excellent verbal and written English skills. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. The successful candidate’s past research experience can be applied to overarching themes of BRRTP grant which are the pathobiology of respiratory diseases and in the health services, outcomes, and epidemiology of these diseases.
