The rapidly growing Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering at Chapman University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the interdisciplinary area of generative AI, computer graphics, computer-aided design, human-computer interaction, and immersive technology effective for the [contact details available in the full listing] academic year. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join Dr. Trudi Qi’s research group. Dr. Qi’s research interests focus on intelligent, human-centered 3D content creation and spatial interaction in extended reality with applications in manufacturing, education, and healthcare. The ideal candidate will have strong generative AI design and development, data analysis, and writing skills, the ability to work collaboratively and independently, and a solid record of publications.

The School also offers several interdisciplinary minors and themed inquiry programs, which allow students from across other Chapman programs to explore engineering. Fowler Engineering is committed to contributing solutions to global challenges and a key component of that mission is the recruitment and support of faculty, staff, and students from the broadest possible set of backgrounds and experiences. The Swenson Family Hall of Engineering, which opened in 2021, provides state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research, enabling truly boundaryless experiences.

Responsibilities
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct independent research and/or collaborate on multiple research projects; provide guidance and support to undergraduate/graduate students associated with the related projects; document research activities and publish key findings in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and top-tier conferences in the related field.

Required Qualifications:

• A doctoral or equivalent degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or related fields is required at the time of employment and awarded within the last five years.
