As a Researcher in the Mechanical Engineering Department, you will have the opportunity to independently conduct cutting-edge research in robotics and human-robot interaction. Collaborating with the School of Computer and Information Sciences, you will publish your findings in leading journals and conferences, while also engaging in teaching and research supervision related to your area of expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Conduct and Publish Research: Independently plan and execute research projects, analyse data, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate and Lead: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, supervise research staff and students, and foster collaborative partnerships.
  • Engage and Present: Participate in outreach activities, present research results at forums, and contribute to departmental seminars and meetings.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an innovative researcher with a PhD in a Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Science possessing expertise in robotics and human-robot interaction, and a proven track record of publishing in leading journals and conferences (e.g. ICRA, RA-L, IROS, HRI, CHI).
You may also:
  • Be experienced in designing and implementing real-time robotic control algorithms.
  • Possess excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Have a strong ability to analyse data and solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently.

The School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering (EMI) undertakes teaching and research across a range of disciplines that are internationally recognised for their contribution to fundamental research.
