Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Physics
- Full time, fixed term position for 3 years. Located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Physics
- Opportunity to lead cutting edge experimental work in superconducting qubits
- Base Salary Academic Level A, $109,263 - $121,054 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The University of Sydney's School of Physics is welcoming applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Physics. The position is funded by an ARC Discovery Project on mitigating the effects of ionising radiation in superconducting quantum computers, in collaboration with Dr Xanthe Croot's Superconducting Quantum Circuits Laboratory and Prof Andrew Doherty's quantum theory group at the University of Sydney. In this role, the successful candidate will lead the experimental effort, including superconducting qubit measurements, development of a cryogenic cosmic-ray detector, dilution refrigerator operation, and nanofabrication of radiation-resilient qubit designs, with access to Rigetti Computing's quantum processor through the project's industry partner.
The School of Physics is committed to creating a diverse workplace by improving equity, access and opportunity. We want to create an environment of world-leading teaching and research where individuality is welcomed and celebrated. We are continuously working to identify and remove biases and barriers in an effort to make our workplace open, supportive and safe for everyone.
