• Salary package: $109,272 - $117,108 (A.6-A.8) - plus 17% employer's superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.
• Full-time, 12-month fixed term role (with the possibility of extension). Part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

About the Role

Reporting to Associate Professor Lauren McLellan, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow supports high-quality, clinical and applied research projects within the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre and School of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University. The projects utilise digital technologies and implementation science to increase access to evidence-based assessment and treatment for youth mental health and wellbeing, including in educational settings.

The Fellow will work collaboratively with academic staff, research students, and external partners to deliver research outcomes with strong translational impact, while contributing to the research culture of the School and Centre.

The role primarily includes assisting with study design and management, delivering or supervising psychological assessments, coordinating and conducting stakeholder and consumer focus groups, collecting, maintaining and analysing qualitative and quantitative data and contributing to dissemination of research findings (including publications).

The Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre fosters interdisciplinary research aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing across the lifespan through innovation, collaboration, and real-world impact.

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Research and Scholarly Activity

• Conduct grant-funded research of high quality and impact in clinical psychology and related interdisciplinary fields (eg contribute to the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of research projects)
• Lead and co-author publications in reputable, peer-reviewed international journals.
• Present research findings at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Contribute to the development of competitive research funding applications and associated reporting (where relevant).

2. Collaboration, Engagement and Impact

• Work effectively within multidisciplinary research teams spanning psychology, education, health, and digital/technological domains.
• Engage with external stakeholders including schools, youth services, clinicians, policy makers, community organisations, and technology partners to enhance research design, visibility and impact.
• Support knowledge translation activities to ensure research findings inform policy, practice, and innovation in mental health and wellbeing (for example through presentations, reports and outreach activities).

3. HDR Supervision and Research Training

• Provide co-supervision and mentoring to Honours, Masters, and PhD research students, as appropriate.

4. Research Governance and Administration

• Manage components of research projects, including timelines, data collection, analysis, documentation, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Macquarie University policies, ethical standards, data management requirements and governance requirements.
• Maintain accurate research records and contribute to internal reporting and evaluation processes as required.

5. Collegiality and Citizenship

• Actively contribute to a positive research culture within the School and Centre through participation in seminars, meetings, and collaborative initiatives.

Selection Criteria:

• Completion of a PhD in Clinical Psychology or other related area of psychology.
• Registration (or endorsement) as a psychologist in Australia with experience in youth mental health
• Demonstrated research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Youth mental health and wellbeing
  • Educational or school-based mental health
  • Digital mental health interventions or assessment
  • Technology-enabled or data-driven psychological research
• Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research design, ethical requirements, and data collection methods (e.g., clinical trials, surveys, focus groups), alongside proficiency in data management and analysis using software such as SPSS, Stata, R, or equivalent.
• Excellent time management, organisational, oral and written communication skills including strong record of peer reviewed research publications relative to career stage.

Desirable

• Status as an approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Experience engaging with community, educational, clinical, or industry partners.
• Experience managing junior staff and supervising undergraduate students undertaking research

This role will require a WWCC, as well as a criminal history/police check.
