Postdoctoral Research Fellow – solar batteries / redox flow batteries
About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to develop their expertise and build an emerging research profile in the field of solar batteries and/or redox flow batteries.
The position is a fixed-term appointment within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and is funded by the Australian Research Council Discovery and linkage Projects. The appointee will work closely with the research group led by Associate Professor Bin Luo, contributing to innovative, high-impact research in energy storage technologies.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the overall project, coordinate tasks, deliverables, and reports.
- Work closely with project partners, prepare progress reports and participate in regular meetings to discuss project objectives, methodology and outcomes.
- Conduct research experiments and data analysis, produce quality research outputs, and publish in high-quality outlets.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer, including supervision of junior researchers, commercialisation of intellectual property, and participate in competitive funding applications.

About You
- Completion of a PhD in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrochemistry.
- Proven expertise in developing functional materials for rechargeable battery technologies, including electrode materials and electrolytes.
- Research and/or industry experience with rechargeable batteries, particularly redox flow batteries and/or solar batteries.
- An emerging publication record in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in contributing to internal service roles and participating in external activities.
- Demonstrated qualities, including:
- A high level of drive and enthusiasm.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A strong commitment to UQ’s core values.
