About the opportunity
The School of Architecture, Design and Planning has a strong record in teaching architecture and architectural science and is recognized as an international leader in research in this field.
We are now recruiting a 6-month fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support a broad range of architectural technology and sustainability research projects. They will conduct research and/or scholarly activities under the limited supervision of senior academic staff, and they will assist in the development and management of research projects that investigate regenerative design and technology in the built environment, including developing indoor environmental quality (IEQ) assessments, undertaking analysis of multidisciplinary data, and applying innovative approaches to building performance.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- develop existing and future multidisciplinary IEQ studies spanning workplace, educational, and healthcare environments;
- conduct literature searches using relevant databases, apply IEQ modelling and simulation approaches, and analyse data drawing upon statistical methods;
- coordinate, incorporate and communicate research - both individually and with collaborative teams;
- actively contribute to grant applications.
About you
- completed a PhD in architectural science, building physics, or a related field;
- demonstrated research expertise and an emerging profile in the general IEQ domain, with a focus on acoustics of various indoor typologies such as office, learning, residential, and sleep environments;
- experience with programming in Python or R;
- demonstrated experience in preparing or contributing to competitive grant applications;
- strong quantitative research skills, including data analysis and interpretation of IEQ measurements;
- demonstrated experience in writing scientific publications in relevant fields.
