Offer Description
CIPADE – Indústria e Investigação de Produtos Adesivos, S.A. is opening a call for one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (BIPD) within the scope of the CORKBIND R&D Project (Project No. 17782 / Operation COMPETE2030-FEDER-01341900), funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Portugal 2030.
The CORKBIND project aims to develop sustainable, high-performance binders for cork agglomeration using renewable raw materials.
The selected researcher will participate in research and development activities associated with the project, contributing to the definition, testing, optimisation and validation of the proposed innovative solution and to the consolidation of the scientific and technical knowledge required for its future industrial application.
The main activities to be carried out include:
- Support for technology watch activities and review of the state of the art;
- Participation in the definition of technical specifications for the solution under development;
- Support in the preparation and execution of preliminary trials;
- Participation in experimental testing activities;
- Support in the optimisation of the innovative solution;
- Execution and monitoring of solution testing;
- Participation in validation trials;
- Analysis of the results obtained and identification of opportunities for improvement;
- Participation in activities aimed at promoting and disseminating the project results;
- Support for the technical management, planning and monitoring of project activities.
The research activities will be mainly carried out at CIPADE – Indústria e Investigação de Produtos Adesivos, S.A., in São João da Madeira, Portugal, and, whenever justified by the project activities, at the facilities of the other project partners, namely IST and SEDACOR.

Benefits
The fellowship will be awarded in accordance with the Portuguese Research Fellowship Holder Statute (Law No. 40/2004, of 18 August) and the Research Fellowship Regulations of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), I.P.
A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the applicable FCT fellowship rates. Payment will be made by bank transfer or cheque, according to the fellowship holder’s option.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field and comply with the eligibility requirements applicable to a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship under the Portuguese Research Fellowship Holder Statute and the FCT Research Fellowship Regulations.
Previous experience in the synthesis of esters from natural-origin components and in characterisation techniques such as FTIR, TGA and other relevant techniques is required.
Non-Portuguese applicants must comply with the applicable legal requirements regarding residence authorisation in Portugal.
Selection process
The selection of candidates will be based on curricular assessment and previous professional/research experience, according to the following criteria:
- Motivation letter: 50%;
- Previous experience in the synthesis of esters from natural-origin raw materials: 50%.
In the event of a tie, the tied candidates will be individually interviewed and a theoretical knowledge test may be carried out.

All candidates will be notified of the final results by e-mail.
If the selected candidate withdraws or declines the fellowship, the candidate with the second highest final score may be selected.
