Description
The Department of Biology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher. Under the leadership of Rita Rio, the incumbent in this position will conduct research in the field of Molecular Biology. This is a full-time, 9-month, benefits-eligible position.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will support the research mission of the Rio research group by conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific publications and grant applications. The position involves working collaboratively with faculty and trainees while developing independent research skills.

Qualifications
Professional Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Biology is required.
In addition, the successful applicant must have:
- Demonstrated research experience obtained during doctoral training in molecular biology, genetics, vector biology, or a related discipline. Experience with common molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning, or gene expression analysis. Experience analyzing biological data using statistical or computational approaches. Evidence of research productivity, such as peer-reviewed publications, manuscripts in preparation, or conference presentations. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within the research group
- Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques
- Experience working with insect model or vector species
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex experimental datasets using appropriate statistical and computational tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare manuscripts and presentations
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining research records
- Experience mentoring or training students in laboratory and computational techniques
The successful candidate may be permitted to begin employment prior to degree confirmation with a letter certifying the trainee has completed all degree requirements from their university.
