Position Summary:
The Postdoctoral Researcher in Dr. Shouan Zhu's osteoarthritis research laboratory leads research projects investigating the molecular and metabolic mechanisms underlying osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal aging. The laboratory focuses on understanding how aging, obesity, metabolic dysfunction, and joint injury contribute to cartilage degeneration, with particular interests in lipid and energy metabolism, post-translational modifications, inflammatory signaling, and the growth hormone/IGF-1 pathway. The Postdoctoral Researcher will use complementary in vitro and in vivo approaches, including molecular and cell biology, mouse models, histology, metabolic studies, and multi-omics analyses. This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on projects with strong potential for first-author publications, conference presentations, and development toward an independent research career. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension.
Position Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and conduct original research investigating mechanisms of osteoarthritis, cartilage degeneration, and musculoskeletal aging, with particular emphasis on metabolic and inflammatory pathways associated with aging, obesity, and joint injury.
