Job Ref: 184008

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher in Immunology to join the group of Dr Yi-Ling Chen based in the CAMS Oxford Institute. The study will focus on discovering lipid antigens and lipid-mediated metabolic pathways in health and disease, specifically following Group A Streptococcus (GAS) infection. You will apply advanced lipidomics techniques to study lipid profiles in clinical samples and experimental models, with implications for autoimmune and metabolic disorders.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will primarily be responsible for the development, design, and execution of experiments in the project, focusing on mapping the antigen characteristics and investigating their functions using cutting-edge immunological and multi-omics techniques, such as lipidomics, multicolour flow cytometry, in vitro T cell functional assays, as well as in vivo transgenic models. This research could deepen the fundamental knowledge and promote translational/preclinical development.

It is essential you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in immunology, biochemistry or a related field. You will have demonstrable ability to prepare lipid extracts for use in immunological assays and metabolic analysis, alongside hands-on experience in lipidomics techniques (LC-MS/MS, sample preparation). Experience with processing primary tissue and blood samples for ex vivo, in vitro, and in vivo assays is also required.

You must have a proactive and adaptable approach to work and willingness to collaborate and provide scientific and workplace guidance to colleagues, research assistants and students. Excellent record keeping, careful methodological work skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.

Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 24 months and it is funded by the European Research Council.

Only applications received before 12 midday on 22 January 2026 will be considered. Please quote 184008 on all correspondence.
