The Department of Economics of Leiden Law School at Leiden University has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Innovation & Investment Policy for Hydrogen Clusters in the EU (0.8-1.0 fte).

This position is part of the interdisciplinary research programme GroenvermogenNL, focusing on the system-wide conditions for a successful hydrogen transition, including policies, infrastructure, technology, safety, economic incentives, and public acceptance.

The postdoc will contribute to research on the role of public policy in shaping private sector investment in green technologies, such as hydrogen production, transport, and application, at the EU and Dutch levels. Findings will inform future scenarios for a clean European industry and support broader modelling efforts.

Tasks include:

• Conducting innovative research on policy-induced investment dynamics in green hydrogen.
• Participating in seminars, workshops, and conferences.
• Disseminating research findings to various audiences.
• Publishing results in reports and academic journals.

The position is at the Department of Economics, with collaboration from the Institute of Public Administration, based in The Hague.

Requirements:

• PhD in economics, political science, or public administration with experience in analyzing firm behavior.
• Strong skills in empirical research methods and writing.
• Experience with statistical software like Stata or R; interview-based or case study research is a plus.
• Excellent command of English; knowledge of Dutch is advantageous.
• Strong collaboration skills in interdisciplinary teams.

The position is for 0.8-1.0 fte for 2 years, starting September 1, 2025. Salary ranges from €5,306 to €7,262 per month, based on a full-time appointment.
