Pre-Doc University Assistant at Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies
As a pre-doc university assistant at the Department of Romance Studies, you will be involved in research and teaching activities in the team of Prof. Dr. Albert Wall. The focus of research and teaching is on Ibero-romance linguistics, in particular syntax and semantics, experimental linguistics and linguistic variation and change.
The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.
Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: Participation in research projects / research studies, Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations, We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months, Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement, Supervision of students, Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums, Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration.
This is part of your personality: Completed MA in Romance Studies with a focus on Spanish and Portuguese linguistics, Competence in further Romance languages, in particular Ibero-romance languages, is desirable, Excellent command of written and spoken English, IT user skills (experience with Sketch, R and AI-tools is a bonus), Ability to work in a team and strong communication skills.
