Offer Description
The University of Alcalá (UAH) is offering one full-time predoctoral research position associated with the research project PID2025-172761OB-I00, entitled "Assessment of forest resilience to disturbances using field and remote sensing data: integration of dimensions (REWILD)".
The project is funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación) within the 2025 call for Knowledge Generation Projects under the Spanish State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024-2027.
Principal Investigators: Mariano García Alonso and Miguel Ángel de Zavala Gironés.
Departments: Geology, Geography and Environment / Life Sciences.
Research line: Remote sensing and ecology.
The successful candidate will carry out research activities including field data collection, processing of large volumes of data, image processing, programming in R, Python, MATLAB or JavaScript, preparation and publication of scientific articles, participation in scientific conferences and dissemination of research results.
CONTRACT CONDITIONS
- Number of positions: 1
- Contract type: Predoctoral contract pursuant to Article 21 of Spanish Law 14/2011 of 1 June on Science, Technology and Innovation.
- Duration: 4 years.
- Working time: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Gross annual salary: EUR 25,456.10.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must:
- Be pre-enrolled or enrolled in the PhD Programme in Geographic Information Technologies or in the PhD Programme in Ecology, Biodiversity and Global Change.
- Not hold a PhD degree.
- Hold a degree in Forestry and Natural Environment Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Agro-environmental Engineering, Biology, Geography, Environmental Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Demonstrate training in remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems, programming and forest ecology.
- Demonstrate an English language level of B2 or higher.
