Preparing for Patients Coordinator

Preparing for Patients Coordinator

Applications are invited for the post of Preparing for Patients (PfP) Coordinator within the Education Division of the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge. This is a varied, rewarding and influential role, ideal for an experienced administrator who enjoys working collaboratively and wants to make a meaningful contribution to medical education.

The Preparing for Patients programme is a flagship element of the pre-clinical medical course, providing early and structured exposure to clinical practice for students across the first three years of study. The PfP Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring the smooth, efficient and high-quality delivery of this programme, working closely with academic colleagues, clinicians, GP practices, patients and volunteers.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive and an excellent communicator, with the confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels. You will bring previous administrative experience, strong IT skills (including experience of virtual learning environments such as Moodle), and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy educational environment. Experience of working in higher education or an NHS setting, as well as line management and budgetary experience, would be advantageous.

The post holder will be based within the Clinical Reasoning and Communication Skills team on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and will work closely with colleagues across the Clinical School and partner NHS organisations. University staff based on the campus benefit from a wide range of on-site facilities, including a shopping concourse, sports and social facilities and a food court.

The University of Cambridge is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. The appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

While we offer some flexibility for hybrid working, the successful applicant will be expected to work from the office at least three days per week. Please note that during particularly busy periods such as key teaching weeks there may be occasions when full on-site attendance is required.
