"President - University of Louisiana at Lafayette"

The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System invites letters of interest, résumés, and nominations for the position of president of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette). The individual selected as president will assume the position in Summer 2026.

Founded in 1898, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a public research university and the largest institution within the University of Louisiana System. UL Lafayette is designated as an R1 institute for “very high research activity” by the Carnegie Classification and serves more than 16,000 students and offers more than 240 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. The university is deeply embedded in the cultural, economic, and civic life of South Louisiana and is known for its innovative research, vibrant student life, and commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.

The Board and university are seeking a president with demonstrated academic and senior administrative success who will serve as a visionary and strategic leader. The ideal candidate will be student-centered, fiscally responsible, and committed to growing the university’s research enterprise, fostering public-private partnerships, expanding access, and advancing diversity and inclusion. The president should also demonstrate success in fundraising, economic development, and engagement with alumni, business, and community stakeholders.

Candidates are expected to have high-level executive experience with a record of exemplary performance. A terminal degree and a background in higher education leadership are preferred, although candidates with significant management experience in other sectors will also be considered.
