Remuneration: $158,080 to $165,606 pa (HEW9) (inclusive of $133,579 to $139,939 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Operations to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.
The Principal Engineer, Operations is a member of the Corporate Systems team that takes responsibility for maintaining and improving a complex landscape of business-critical solutions, providing operational support to our customers and helping to implement QUT's digital transformation strategy. The Principal Engineer, Operations plays a leading role in in coordinating and delivering a range of key activities and projects aimed at supporting the University’s Finance and Human Resources Systems. The role provides technical leadership and works in partnership with team members, vendor partners, clients and other IT professionals. The role is pivotal in translating strategic initiatives and business needs into efficient system management practices and effective operational outcomes. The work undertaken by this team is critical to driving business efficiencies. The appointee may be required to be contactable and/or work outside of standard business hours on occasion. These instances will be treated in accordance with the relevant provisions in the Enterprise Agreement for Professional Staff.

What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology and extensive experience and proven application and/or system administration expertise.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in the implementation, management, configuration and monitoring of corporate systems.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership within project teams or operational environments, including the ability to guide others, share expertise, and influence positive outcomes through collaboration and initiative.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to lead advanced troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex problems or propose solutions to complex problems.
- Proven ability to work with partners to identify client requirements, design and develop solutions to address business and technical requirements, as well as deploy and implement solutions using appropriate technologies.
- Strong organisational skills, including time-management and the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and produce high quality work within tight time frames.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with demonstrated experience in communicating complex technology issues clearly and confidently at all levels within the organisation.
