0.5 FTE fixed term contract available for 12 months initially.

This Adelaide Rural Clinical School (ARCS) position will be responsible for formal teaching in the Year 5 rural program of the University of Adelaide medical course. This includes online scenario based teaching, and clinical communication (called clinical yarning) intensives based in rural locations, particularly Port Pirie.

The successful applicant will work with the ARCS academic team to support the development of course materials, provide online and face to face tutorials to rural students and undertake student assessments in cultural safety and Aboriginal health. This role provides an opportunity to work in rural SA while being part of an energetic and committed academic unit.

Biannual travel to Port Pirie is required in order to actively participate in clinical yarning workshops and assessments.

To be successful you will need:

  • Be of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander heritage with cultural knowledge respected by the community.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal health or within mainstream health services with Aboriginal patients.
  • High level communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships and partnerships and collaborate with health industry sector and Aboriginal communities.
  • Experience in the co-design and development of educational material for teaching within the area of cultural safety or Aboriginal health education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in the design and delivery of course and subject material, which is student-centred, and includes the capacity to incorporate new technologies and new approaches to teaching and learning.
  • A driver’s licence and capacity to travel as part of your academic role.
