Department Summary: For 50 years, the Institute for Policy Research and Engagement (IPRE - formerly the Community Service Center) at the University of Oregon has linked the skills, expertise, capacity, and innovation of higher education with the needs of communities and organizations throughout Oregon. IPRE is an interdisciplinary applied research and experiential-learning institute at the University of Oregon. IPRE provides planning, policy, and technical assistance to Oregon communities.
Position Summary: The University of Oregon's Institute for Policy Research and Engagement seeks to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill periodic vacancies for pro tem research/project management positions. All positions would be funding contingent, part-time, temporary assignments with an appointment of up to one year, but with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years depending on need, funding, and/or performance. Appointments would be as research assistants, conducting research, or project management under the direction of a principal investigator. Minimum Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Community and Regional Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
Professional Competencies:
- Ability to efficiently manage complex planning projects/processes.
- Commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity.
- Ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences, both orally and in writing.
- Understanding of complex long-range planning and development processes and issues.
- Skills and experience in public outreach, public involvement coordination, public body (elected, appointed, volunteer) liaising, and small group facilitation.
- Ability to evaluate, comment on, and direct master's-level student work using formal and informal assessment tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- American Institute of Certified Planners (or equivalent) certification.
