Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The Professional Advisor II is responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for students to increase student retention, success, and completion. The Professional Advisor II will facilitate advising and registration for their assigned student populations, ensure students are connected with student support services and activities, disseminate program information, and track student performance. The work of the Professional Advisor II involves working closely with stakeholders across campus to build collaborative relationships, remain current in the university's academic policies and program maps by attendance in trainings, advising department meetings, and academic department meetings.
Professional Advisor II have demonstrated a level of competency in executing all of the Advisor I position duties to allow them to use their knowledge, skills, and abilities to address specific needs of the office. An Advisor II is expected to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and to plan, carry out, and evaluate project-based work as determined by the needs of the office.
This position may require occasional evening, weekend, and extended hours during peak periods of the academic year.

Responsibilities
The Professional Advisor II is responsible for on-going advisement and mentoring of new and continuing students at ASU. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the first point of contact for questions and/or concerns for assigned students.
- Monitors and tracks the retention, progression, and graduation of all students within assigned population through the use of advising software and technologies.
- Develop success plans with their students that provide goals for academic performance, major exploration, and student engagement.
- Serve as an advocate for students in areas relating to success, pace, and graduation.
- Remain informed of university policies, procedures, programs, and program course maps, as well as BOR policies, to ensure accurate advising and course registration by attending regularly scheduled department meetings and advising center meetings.
- Represents the academic advising unit on college and university committees.
- Utilize to it's fullest potential the technologies, software, and processes made available by the university for academic advising and student success and participate in on-going and consistent training to remain current in these practices.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in related field with one (1) year of related work experience.
Or: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with five (5) years of related work experience.
Demonstrated commitment to academic advising as a key component of student success, as evidenced by prior experiences, letters of recommendation, and interview(s).
Demonstrates all required knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Professional Advisor Level I including ability to function autonomously as a Professional Advisor for assigned caseloads.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of institutional academic policies, student resources, and support services available to students.
Experience with advising software such as Banner, EAB Navigate, and Degree Works.
3-5 years of experience in academic advising or a similar role within a higher education setting.
