Professional position of Professional Advisor in the science and higher education system at the Center for Marine Research in Rovinj, Laboratory for Evolutionary Ecology, for tasks involving long-term, operational, and high-frequency monitoring of phytoplankton in the Adriatic Sea, as well as laboratory and fieldwork within the framework of national monitoring programs and scientific research projects; 1 employee.

Skills/Qualifications

In addition to the general criteria for employment set out in Article 61 of the Ruđer Bošković Institute Statute, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• completed graduate studies in biology, ecology, oceanography, or biotechnology,
• a PhD degree in the field of natural sciences (specifically: interdisciplinary natural sciences, branch: marine science),
• experience working on a research vessel,
• laboratory experience working with phytoplankton samples (microscopy, sample preparation),
• experience working with phytoplankton cultures,
• willingness to perform fieldwork and work in laboratory conditions,
• driving license (Category B),
• active proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in phytoplankton analysis using the Utermöhl method; experience working with flow cytometry and/or optical measurement systems and oceanographic buoys, sensors, or autonomous measurement systems; experience in statistical analysis and biological data processing; and experience participating in monitoring programs, marine research projects, and field research campaigns.

Eligibility criteria

Applications for a professional position within the science and higher education system must be accompanied by: a curriculum vitae, the relevant diploma, and evidence of meeting other criteria specified in the call for applications. Employment for the professional position is established for an indefinite period, subject to a six-month probationary period. A candidate selected for the professional position who obtained their higher education qualification abroad must, prior to the commencement of employment, submit an Opinion on the Evaluation of a Foreign Higher Education Qualification issued by the Agency for Science and Higher Education.
