RECTOR of the Jagiellonian University announces a selection procedure for the position of a PROFESSOR (F/M) who is the Director at the Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics (JCET)

Remuneration
- basic remuneration in the range of 10.800‒14.600 PLN gross;
- seniority allowance depending on length of service (3‒20%);
- jubilee awards for long-term service ‒ in accordance with the Regulation for remuneration of employees of the Jagiellonian University;
- possible task-based and periodic allowances, as well as discretionary awards, upon meeting the conditions set out in the Regulation for remuneration of employees of the Jagiellonian University;
- additional annual remuneration, the so-called "thirteenth salary" ‒ after meeting the conditions specified in the relevant regulation.
Benefits ‒ Institutional Social Benefits Fund (depending on the income per family member, in accordance with the Regulations for Granting Benefits from the Company Social Benefits Fund of the Jagiellonian University):
- co-financing of summer holidays (PLN 1.050–1.550 gross) and winter holidays (PLN 700–900 gross);
- co-financing for children for organised holidays (PLN 900–1,400 gross), or co-financing of individually purchased summer camps, sports camps, winter camps, medical holidays or rehabilitation stays (50–90%, with the maximum amount eligible for co-financing being PLN 2.500 gross) per child;
- cash equivalent for a special occasional package of sweets in the amount of PLN 100–300 gross per child;
- co-financing of childcare in nurseries, kindergartens and other forms of preschool education, as well as care provided by a daily guardian or nanny (PLN 250–400 gross).

The selection procedure is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on higher education and science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 162 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
- holding an academic title;
- holding a prominent position in the field of science and active presence in the world of science, documented with the entirety of scientific achievements;
- having significant achievements in the training of resarch staff, managing research teams and organising scientific life;
- having achievements in organisational work;
- having experience in teaching work.
Specific Requirements
Additional requirements necessary for employment (indicated in order of priority)
- research expertise in the following areas:
- experience in conducting research in the field of vascular endothelial biomedicine, blood vessels walls, and the circulatory system in accordance with JCET’s mission,
- experience in conducting interdisciplinary experimental research in pharmacology, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, and other fields,
- experience in conducting translational research;
- a high level of scientific activity documented by publications, international scientific collaboration, and invited lectures;
- documented experience in fundraising for research projects, including those conducted within scientific consortia (experience in leading projects with a budget exceeding 10–20 million PLN will be an additional asset);
- experience in commercializing the results of scientific research;
- experience in organizing scientific conferences (including international ones);
- experience in managing a research unit;
- documented trainings and promoting the development of program for staff;
- a well-developed vision for the further development of JCET;
- fluent English (spoken and written).

Eligibility criteria
Scope of duties
according to the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University Annex 1 to the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University – Model scopes of responsibilities and duties of academic teachers (F/M) and:
- Content-related and administrative management of the JCET interdisciplinary research and development unit.
- Development of JCET’s research activities.
- Development of original interdisciplinary research in the field of endothelial and vascular biomedicine in accordance with JCET’s mission, including, research on endothelial pharmacotherapeutic mechanisms and endothelial pharmacology in collaboration with domestic and international centers.
- Searching and acquiring funding for the unit’s operations including securing high-budget, strategic research projects.
- In collaboration with the leaders of JCET’s research groups, planning interdisciplinary scientific research within the unit.
- In cooperation with the JCET administrative team, overseeing the proper functioning of the unit
- In cooperation with the team of lab managers, overseeing the proper functioning of the unit’s research infrastructure.
- In cooperation with the Deputy Director for Administrative Affairs, developing JCET development plans and reports on their implementation.
- In cooperation with the Deputy Director for Administrative Affairs, developing JCET’s material and financial plans and annual reports on their implementation;
- Conducting periodic performance evaluations of all employees.
- Managing JCET’s assets.
- Representing JCET within the scope of the power of attorney granted by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University.
- Other duties, in accordance with JCET’s regulations.

- statement on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University.

The course of selection procedure
The first stage of the selection procedure is the formal assessment of the submitted documents. Applications which meet all formal requirements are the subject of substantive assessment, during which an interview with the Candidate (F/M) may be conducted (directly or via electronic communication channels), upon settling the date of the interview with the Candidate (F/M). During the interview, the soft competencies indicated in the announcement will also be verified.
The Candidate (F/M) has the right to appeal against the negative assessment by the selection board within 7 days from receiving the information about the results of the assessment.
