Professor in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering

Located in the heart of Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Université Laval is a major research university with over 45,000 students. The university has an international orientation and is recognized for its excellence in teaching and research.

The Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Université Laval (www.gmn.ulaval.ca) invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering. The Department has a faculty of 16 professors and offers undergraduate and graduate programs to over 300 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students.

The sought field of expertise is in mining and mineral processing engineering. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students at the MSc and PhD levels, and develop sponsored and innovative research programs that complement the department's strengths.

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree and a PhD in mining and mineral processing engineering or a closely related field. They must be a member (P. Eng.) of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec or another Canadian order of engineers, or take steps to become one within two years. Teaching is conducted in French, so the candidate should communicate and write in French or take steps to do so within three years.

Selection criteria include quality of academic background, experience and potential in teaching, achievements in the field, experience in research and technology transfer, adequacy of qualifications, potential for integration with faculty, and industrial experience as an asset.

Academic rank will be assessed based on experience, and salary will be determined according to the collective agreement in place at the time of hire.

The posting period is from September 1st to November 1st, 2025, with an expected starting date between May 2026 and September 2026.
