Professor in Natural Resources Governance
The Department of Forest Resources Management, Faculty of Forestry, at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver campus is recruiting an outstanding researcher in Natural Resources Governance. The successful candidate is expected to be eligible for a full-time appointment at the rank of Professor, or Associate Professor with a demonstrated trajectory toward promotion to Professor within one to two years.
The appointee will be nominated for a Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC), focusing on developing and maintaining a research program in natural resources governance. This includes areas such as non-state market-driven governance, global sustainability governance, transnational business regulation, corporate social responsibility, and public policy related to natural resources.
Responsibilities include building a research team, supervising graduate students, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, obtaining external funding, and contributing to a new forest economics and policy centre at the Faculty of Forestry.
The UBC Faculty of Forestry is committed to reconciliation and is a leading institution in forestry education and research. The successful applicant will contribute to undergraduate and graduate programs and collaborate with other faculty.
Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline, be currently appointed as a full professor or associate professor (or possess equivalent qualifications), be internationally recognized in interdisciplinary research in natural resources governance, demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, have a proven track record of co-creating research with partners from various sectors, and show leadership in innovative teaching and public communication of research.
If successful, the CERC provides $500,000 per year for eight years. The position is open to all nationalities, with support for work permits if needed. UBC considers career interruptions in assessments.
