The Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering invites applications for the position of Professor in Pyrometallurgy. The position can be filled at any level of the Aalto tenure track system (assistant, associate or full professor) and is full-time.

Aalto University has a unique competence in process metallurgy, covering the metallic raw materials value chain. We seek a world-class academic leader with expertise in high-temperature processes to support research in materials and sustainable use of natural resources.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching and developing educational activities at Bachelor, Master, and postgraduate levels.
• Conducting research in high-temperature extractive metallurgy, focusing on material- and energy-efficient processing, recycling, and processing metals from low-grade and complex resources.
• Utilizing experimental, digital, and modeling tools in research and education.
• Attracting funding for projects on metallurgical refining and recycling.
• Producing high-quality research for peer-reviewed journals.
• Initiating interdisciplinary projects and integrating research into educational programs.
• Disseminating results to professionals, students, and academics.
• Contributing to the school and department's international visibility and societal activities.

Qualifications require a doctoral degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Applicants are reviewed based on research excellence, teaching potential, and international collaboration.
