Professor in Quantitative Criminology
Vibrant, multidisciplinary and innovative, the Faculty of Arts and Science is one of Université de Montréal’s largest faculties. The School of Criminology is the largest criminology school in the French-speaking world. The programs offered by the School, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, are recognized internationally. To carry out its dual mission of professional training and research, the School covers all areas of expertise in criminology, police studies and domestic security, from the most traditional to the most cutting edge.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will:
- Develop a high-level, innovative and internationally recognized research program related to the field;
- Participate in large-scale research projects;
- Teach quantitative criminology at undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Supervise graduate students;
- Train professionals from the criminology community;
- Participate in activities to promote the discipline (publications, conferences and others);
- Contribute to the operation and development of the school, the Faculty and the institution through committees and scientific and social activities.
Qualifications
- Hold a Ph.D. in criminology or a related field or defend your thesis by December 31st, 2025;
- Have an excellent publication record with publications that use quantitative criminology;
- Demonstrated the ability to deliver high-quality university education, notably for quantitative methods;
- Have adequate proficiency of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired, through the Université de Montréal’s French language support program, in accordance with the Université de Montréal language policy.
