Wycliffe College invites applications for a full-time, core faculty appointment in New Testament Studies. Long-listed candidates will be interviewed online in January 2026, with campus interviews for short-listed candidates in February.

About Wycliffe College

Founded in 1877, Wycliffe College is a graduate school of Theology within the Toronto School of Theology (TST) and affiliated with the University of Toronto, one of the world’s leading research universities. Wycliffe offers conjointly awarded graduate degrees through the University of Toronto and serves students preparing for ministry, academic scholarship, and leadership in the church and society.

The College is rooted in the evangelical and Anglican tradition and committed to the study of Scripture as foundational for Christian faith and practice. Its ethos values intellectual rigour, spiritual vitality, and service to the wider church. Applicants should share these commitments and be able to subscribe to Wycliffe’s Six Principles (wycliffecollege.ca/about-us/mission-values).

Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a PhD or ThD in New Testament or a closely related field.
  • Have a strong record of research, publication, and graduate-level teaching.
  • Be able to teach across the New Testament curriculum, including Greek language and exegesis at all levels.
  • Articulate an active research agenda; expertise in the Gospels, Catholic Epistles, Hebrews, or Revelation is particularly welcome.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret New Testament texts theologically, in conversation with the wider canon and Christian doctrine.
  • Show commitment to the life and flourishing of the church, and the capacity to integrate scholarship with ministerial and ecclesial formation. (Anglican ordination is desirable but not required.)

Candidates should be able to teach in both on-campus and online formats, supervise doctoral theses, and engage in productive research. Because this role involves substantial face-to-face teaching and mentoring, the appointee will be expected to reside in or near Toronto.

Responsibilities

The post carries a normal teaching load of up to five courses per year, alongside active engagement in research, publication, and service to the College. Faculty are expected to participate in the worship and community life of Wycliffe, make good use of sabbatical opportunities, and collaborate collegially with colleagues across Wycliffe and the Toronto School of Theology.

Application Process

Applicants should submit, in PDF or Word format:

  1. A cover letter outlining suitability for the role and including contact details.
  2. A curriculum vitae with education, employment history, teaching and research experience, publications, and the names of three referees who may be contacted with the applicant’s consent.
